How to Deal With Anxiety

The first step in dealing with anxiety is realizing what it is you’re dealing with. To clarify, anxiety can rear its ugly head in a couple of different ways. It can also mimic a few NON life threatening but none the less, annoying medical conditions. Specifically inner ear infections can cause dizziness, PMS can cause mood swings, irritability and a host of numerous other symptoms. Even low blood sugar causes symptoms similar to anxiety.

Once you have been diagnosed as having anxiety, the term your doctor will most likely use is Generalized Anxiety disorder. Which simply means you have anxiety over anything or everything at any given time. Things that normally would not bother you suddenly start to make you anxious. In the early stages of anxiety learning how to deal with it is relatively easy if you get a grip on it early enough.

  • Reduce your stress! If you don’t know what is causing you stress then seeking the help of a therapist is the best route to go. Some how therapist have a way of making people talk about things they didn’t even know were bothering them. This method of dealing with anxiety is called nipping in the bud quickly! Once you have been diagnosed or in many cases self diagnosed your self. A few therapy sessions is all it takes to eliminate the anxiety.
  • If you have been suffering with anxiety for a while then a more aggressive manner may need to be used to help you learn to deal with anxiety. Techniques like deep breathing, will help relax your body and mind. Getting plenty of exercise, rest and relaxation will help tremendously. However, it will not get rid of the anxiety it will just keep it in check.
  • Ideally dealing with anxiety is not the method you want to take. Anyone who suffers from anxiety can tell you it feels like an inner prison and learning to deal with it, only allows you mind to accept it as part of who you are. If you have anxiety get the treatments you need, therapy, possibly short term prescription medication, support group or even self help books can be beneficial.

When it comes to anxiety, it is a disorder you do not want to deal with it’s a condition you want to face head on and get out of your life as soon as possible. Anxiety has the ability to grow like a weed, that just won’t die! Don’t deal, get rid of it!
